Vincent Carruthers is an author and environmental consultant. He is a registered professional scientist specialising in amphibians and wetlands, and an amateur historian. He works with several universities and overseas institutions and has published books and articles on wildlife, history and natural science, including The Wildlife of Southern Africa; South African Frogs: A Complete Guide (co-authored with Neville Passmore) and, along with Louis du Preez, A Complete Guide to the Frogs of Southern Africa which was reissued in a second edition with the title Frogs of Southern Africa: A Complete Guide.
Louis du Preez is a professor of Zoology at the North-WestUniversity, South Africa, where he heads the African Amphibian Conservation research group. His research interest lies with frogs and their parasites, subjects on which he publishes regularly.
