About this book

Language: Bilingual in English and Chinese

The Regional Geochemistry National Reconnaissance program (RGNR), initiated in 1979, has now covered about 7.7 million km2 (about 80% of China' territory). By stream sampling and analysis of 39 elements, it makes great contributions to the discovery of new mineral deposits and the science of geochemical mapping at that time. This program first advanced the idea that the detection limits of all trace and subtrace elements should be lowered down beneath the crustal abundance. For this idea to be fulfilled, China persisted for 30 years in developing and improving multi-instrument, multi-method analytical systens. It was predicted at the initationof the RGNR program that more than ten thousand regional anomalies would be delineated, more than a thousand anomalies will be further explored and the results will be the discovery of more than a hundred economic deposits. Now thirty years have elapsed, and 1947 economic mineral deposits were discovered (mainly Au, Ag base metals, copper, tungsten, tin and molybdenum deposits) with the values of potential ore reserve exceeding 2000 billion Yuan. This fact is far more than the prediction at the initiation stage of the program. Geochemical Atlas of China aggregates the RGNR program data in the various provinces in China, a provides a compilation of geochemical mapping results to the end of the 2002.
