About this book

Hoverflies are a somewhat misunderstood creature in British gardens – although they are essential pollinators for our plants and totally harmless to humans, they are often mistaken for wasps and avoided as a result. But whilst their similarity to their stinging lookalikes can cause panic amongst humans, it's also a deliberate defence mechanism that helps to protect them from predators. This story aims to educate children about these important insects, whilst also demonstrating that you can't always judge a book by its cover.

Biography

Laura Bunster Galeno is a British writer from Birmingham, where she lives with her husband. She works in Marketing by day and writes in her spare time. Laura is passionate about nature and wildlife, and frequently regales her niece and nephews with stories of the creatures living in her garden – from foxes to field mice, badgers to blackbirds. Laura's writing journey started after discovering some old English books at her parents' home and remembering her love of writing at school. So, she decided to revisit her old passion in order to educate and entertain children about the natural world.
