This volume in the BirdLife International series presents the network of 114 Important Bird Areas in Bulgaria. This was based on of a thorough analysis in the periods 2003-2005 of the existing information, dedicated research of the least known territories, and monitoring of sites, based on more then 4 million birdwatching records and 173 scientific publications. A total of 372 bird species are recorded in the IBA network, representing 89% of Bulgarian and 71% of European bird species.
