The Kite Ursus are an easy to use, entry-level pair of binoculars. They have been designed for everyday use and have a robust housing. They are coated in soft touch rubber armour providing good grip and protection, along with two well placed, grip texture thumb indents. These binoculars are lightweight and well balanced with a short hinge and a large ribbed focus wheel, meaning changing focus is very easy, lending them well for extended use as well as one-handed use.
The Ursus are fully waterproof and nitrogen filled, meaning they won’t fog up inside. All lens surfaces are coated in Kite’s MHR coating, a multi layer coating that increases the amount of light that passes through the binoculars which, along with the high reflective prism coating, results in a sharper, brighter, and better colour-balanced image. The Ursus offers great eye relief, at around 17mm (excluding the 10 x 42 which offers 15.1mm) and is aided by the 4-stage rubber armoured metal eyecups, which are removable.
As with other Kite binoculars, the Ursus also have a great field of view and, combined with their image quality, this makes them great for panning while watching fast moving subjects as well for use during low light conditions.
The Ursus is available in 4 different sizes. The 8 x 32 recommended as compact binoculars and the 10 x 50 for optimizing brightness while the 8 x 42 and 10 x 42 are a good compromise between size and performance.
