Biography

Jatindra Sarma is a senior Forest Officer of Indian Forest Service presently serving in the State of Assam (Assam-Meghalaya Cadre). He has been working on documentation of medicinal and aromatic plants including mushrooms, specially of Assam, since 2003 while conserving, propagating many of the rare and endangered species of plants. He was a Member of the Technical Committee of the Medicinal Plants' Board, Assam from 2007 to 2009. He has also been an honorary Advisor of the NIRD from 2011 to 2013 in a project on medicinal and aromatic plants of North-East India. He has extensively travelled almost throughout the country and possessed a vast knowledge on medicinal and aromatic plants and biodiversity resources especially of the North-East India. He has published more than 15 research articles on plants which are added to the Flora of Assam, are new to the flora of India, and some even new to science.
