A Mink Raft is commonly used to detect the presence of mink (and other river-dwelling species). It records the footprints of visitors in the tracking cartridge situated inside the tunnel, and can be left in situ for one to two weeks for evidence to accumulate. The tracking cartridge can be purchased separately.
This British made Mink Raft is made from recycled plastic. There are several benefits of using a plastic mink raft: It is completely rot-proof as the plastic will not deteriorate like rafts made from wood. It is also easier and safer to pull out of the water, due to its lighter weight. As it is made out of plastic, it will not crack or splinter, regardless of the weather, and it is also chew-proof. It can be pressure washed and steam cleaned, minimising the risk of contamination between sites. This raft has a removable lid, making it easy to inspect the raft and the trap whilst in the field. It comes flat-packed, making it easy to store and transport.
