| | | Author interview with Richard A Fortey: Close Encounters of the Fungal Kind |
| | For years, Richard Fortey has found the uniqueness of fungi fascinating, from their strange forms, colours, reputation, rapid appearance and disappearance, to their often unseen role within the natural world. Close Encounters of the Fungal Kind takes the reader on an enthralling journey through Fortey's forays searching for the strangest, most extraordinary and most delicious species. Focusing on a selection of the larger fungi and a handful of microfungi, this charming book celebrates their profusion, diversity and importance. |

| Garden Wildlife Watching: Sabine's Trail Cameras |
| | Although widely used by ecologists, trail cameras are also popular with naturalists, wildlife watchers and those who are curious as to what wildlife can be found in their gardens. They allow us to monitor the wildlife around us without impacting natural behaviours, capturing both image and video during the day and night with the help of infrared imaging technology.
Our colleague, Sabine, recently captured some excellent footage around her orchard using the Num’axes PIE1060 Solar Wi-Fi Trail Camera and the Browning Strike Force Pro X 1080 trail camera, which were left to record for around four months and one year respectively.
Find out more about Sabine’s exciting finds on our blog. |
