About this book

Language: Chinese with scientific nomenclature

Among the fossil rodents studied and published before 2019 in China, there are 8 families, 121 genera and 317 species of Muroidea fossils, a superfamily of rodents. This volume of Palaeovertebrata Sinica is the second of two to deal with fossil rodents and provides the definition and geological history of taxa above the family level and their geographical distribution, and gives an overview of the research history, current situation and existing problems. It provides detailed information on the identification characteristics and temporal and spatial distribution of each genus and species, and provides detailed descriptions of the type specimens, origins and horizons of each named species. After the description of most taxa, there are editor's comments on problems found in the writing process or new understandings of the unit gained. The book is illustrated with 343 pictures and contains an index of scientific names after the main text, together with drawings and descriptions of strata and locations.
