The HI98319 Salinity Test Meter is a portable and cost-effective product for determining the salinity and temperature of liquids, designed particularly with marine use in mind. This highly accurate meter uses conductivity to measure the salinity levels of saltwater and similar fluids. It is equally valuable for use with artificial salt water from marine fishtanks and out in the field. It allows for flexibility in the readout, with an option to display salinity results in parts per thousand (ppt), practical salinity units (PSU), or specific gravity (SG), as well as temperature in °C or °F.
This salinity meter is supplied with a battery and calibration fluid. Before use, remove the protective cap, rinse the electrodes in purified water, and switch the unit on. It is advised that you then calibrate the unit before it's first use. Calibration should then be repeated monthly, with regular use, or more frequently if use is constant. It is important to ensure that the unit dries completely between calibration and use, and after each use before the cap is re-attached. Full instructions are included.
