The observation of biodiversity is always an activity that fascinates and teaches, but when it comes to marine biology there is also the gratification of beauty. Who, walking along any beach, has never bent down to pick up a shell and was not struck by the beauty of the shape and colours? But few know that even molluscs have their beauty that sometimes exceeds that of the shell itself. This photographic diary, a small contribution to the knowledge of the malacology of Lanzarote, is the result of weeks of research along the rocky coasts of this island where the authors have photographed, to the best of their ability, over 60 species of marine molluscs. This is the first of a series of photographic diaries made in various parts of the world.

L'osservazione della biodiversità è sempre un'attività che affascina e insegna, ma se si tratta di Biologia Marina c'è anche la gratificazione della bellezza. Chi, passeggiando lungo una qualsiasi spiaggia, non si è mai chinato a raccogliere una conchiglia e non è rimasto colpito dalla bellezza della forma e dei colori? Ma pochi sanno che anche i molluschi hanno la loro bellezza che a volte supera quella della conchiglia stessa. Questo diario fotografico, un piccolo contributo alla conoscenza della malacologia di Lanzarote, è il faticoso risultato di settimane di ricerca lungo le coste rocciose di questa splendida isola dove abbiamo fotografato, al meglio delle nostre possibilità, oltre 60 specie di molluschi marini ed è il I° di una serie di diari fotografici realizzati in varie parti del mondo di prossima pubblicazione.
