PETER KAPPELER is Head of the Department of Behaviour and Ecology in the Deutsches Primatenzentrum in Gottingen, Germany. CAREL VAN SCHAIK is a Professor in the Department of Biological Anthropology and Anatomy at Duke University, North Carolina.
