About this book

This thesis investigates the interaction between southern Iberia and Phoenician colonisers from the eastern Mediterranean in the Ieon Age, 8th to 6th centuries BC. Settlement sites, cemeteries and material culture evidence, primarily ceramics and metal artefacts, are examined from sites along the Guadalquivir Valley, the adjacent Mediterranean coast and the Guadiana River, This evidence is summarised and synthesised as Ulrich Morgenroth looks at issues of cultural interaction and acculturation, social and economic development and seeks to reveal indicators of Phoenician influence.
