Sparrows have been a vibrant and vital part of our environment for centuries, but their numbers are now seriously declining. This is particularly noticeable in our towns and cities where lack of nesting space is a major problem. Providing these birds with a safe and secure habitat and nesting environment is a great way to help ensure their future survival.

The Sparrow Nest Box System is a modular system of nest boxes. Each box can be used either on its own or fit together with others in an arrangement of your choice. They are designed to attract both house and tree sparrows and are an excellent way of encouraging the establishment of a colony in your garden or near your home.

Each box is constructed from exterior quality resin FSC bonded ply and has a fixed roof and slide out floor with ventilation and drainage slot. (The slide out floor makes it easy to access the inside of the box even when there is another box situated directly beneath it). A concealed keyhole in the rear panel makes it easy to fix to a wall or tree. Nylon pegs, which fit into holes in the side of the box, are also provided and allow boxes to be fitted together either side by side or diagonally.

These boxes can be sited on either a tree or wall, preferably two to four metres above ground and with a clear flight path to the nest. House sparrows will also nest in boxes which are located high up on a house wall, beneath the eaves, but make sure that they are away from areas where house martins usually nest.
