This alphabetical catalogue covers all available names published for the Eurasian, African, and circumpolar Colias. Each name has sections for type material, type localities, etymology and taxonomic status. The authors' own extensive collections, and examination of the large Colias holdings in many major museums such as BMNH (London), ZSM (Munich), MNHU (Berlin), ZISP (St. Peters-burg), and ZMKU (Kiev) have enabled the authors to examine specimens of every taxon including, in most cases, type specimens. Thousands of Colias type specimens that had not been previously recognised as types, or which were thought to be lost, were identified for The Genus Colias Fabricius, 1807.
Appendices to the alphabetical catalogue contain a list of all described names in the genus Colias, a discussion of Verity's (1905-1911) Rhopalocera Palaearctica, and extensive notes on Grum-Grshimailo and his travel to China, etc. 25 maps and 32 colour plates, mainly comprising type specimens, complement The Genus Colias Fabricius, 1807.
