About this book

Language: English with German summary

The first of three volumes to be published on the Cacteae tribe, authored by an acknowledged expert. This monograph revises the cactus genus Sclerocactus and aims to clear up some of the confusion that has come about by the many publications on the family Cactaceae. The author hopes to show that the expansion of this genus to include taxa that are correctly classified in the genera Ancistrocactus, Echinomastus, Glandulicactus, and Tourmeya cannot be supported, based on results of various studies, including genetic analyses.
