About this book

This book is the first of a series to cover more than 1,000 species of Macro Lepidoptera of Israel, with complete and up-to-date information concerning their taxonomy, distribution, habitat preferences, seasonal activity and host plant interactions. The series is the first of its kind in the entire Near East, aiming to fill in a significant gap in our knowledge of the butterflies and moths of this still poorly studied region.

Volume I summarizes evidence concerning 128 erebid moth species currently recorded in Israel, illustrated in live size on 12 color plates. In addition, the distribution of each species in the country is mapped. The book is richly illustrated with color photos on another 36 plates, representing a wide range of major habitat types of Israel.
