An extensive work with 1,516 pages and more than 3,000 photographs, with a high level of detail that includes even the rarest and most recently described species. The taxon sheets include a detailed description, flowering, habitat and distribution, as well as detailed keys for determining the endemic genera.

It also includes interesting chapters on the history of botany on the islands, geology, climate, biogeography, phytosociology, and a broad introduction. In addition to the species descriptions, there are chapters dedicated to the history of botany in the Canary Islands, geography, description of the islands, geological origin, nature, climate, and bioclimatic zones. At the end of the work, there is an extensive bibliography, a glossary of botanical terms, and two indexes (common names and scientific names).

Las fichas de los taxones incluye descripción detallada, floración, hábitat y distribución, además de detalladas claves de determinación de los géneros endémicos.

Asimismo, incluye interesantes capítulos de historia de la botánica en las islas, geología, clima, biogeografía, fitosociología… en una amplia introducción. Además de las fichas de cada especie hay  capítulos dedicados a la historia de botánica en  Canarias, geografía, descripción de las islas, origen geológico, naturaleza, clima, pisos bioclimáticos… Al final de la obra se incluye una extensa  bibliografía, un glosario de términos botánicos, y dos índices ( nombres comunes y nombres científicos). Esta obra monumental constituye una magnífica noticia puesto que va a convertirse en un referente de consulta obligada, una herramienta de indudable utilidad para quienes se quieran acercarse con curiosidad e identificar casi todas las especies de  Canarias.
