About this book

Language: Bilingual in English and Italian

The Pradalbino gullies are located in the Bologna Pedappennine, in the municipality of Monte San Pietro, Italy. Made up of more or less sandy clays, they are all that remains of the ancient sea that formed a deep gulf where Bologna and its territory now stand. The age of these clayey soils varies from 4 to 2 million years and they belong to the Pliocene. In approximately 400 colour photos, this book documents the fossil shells of marine molluscs that lived in this ancient sea, of which these fossils remain today.
