This contribution to the knowledge of the species Melanoleuca shows 27 taxa, of whith 19 are supplied with description, explanatory notes and colour photographs; the remaining 8 taxa are only supplied with a new colour iconography. A new combination, Melanoleuca robusta (Bresadola) comb. nov. is proposed, M. melaleuca and M. robusta are neotypified, M. yucatanensis and M. fusca are announced in Europe for the first time, colour pictures of M. grammopodia var. obscura, M. subexcentrica, M. yucatanensis and M. fusca are shown for the first time.
The introduction focuses on the macro- and microaspects concerning the study of the species and proposes a key in order to define the s.sez. Exscissae Boekhout.
