We all love our gardens. Our garden can be a sanctuary, our hideaway, our thinking place, our daily experience of nature in all its wonder and complexity, whether it be the simplest bit of greenery to the most extensive garden. So when our garden is invaded by those uninvited guests called weeds, we are motivated to remove them.
Weeds compete with our garden plants, cost time, money and effort to control, can harbour pests and diseases and reduce our enjoyment of the garden. Some are even bad for our health!
The author hopes this book will help you identify the common weeds growing in your garden and supply ways to control them, but also give you some strategies to keep them at bay. In addition, he hopes to raise your awareness of the threat of some weeds to our health and our gardens, but ultimately to the natural environment.
The Further Information page at the back of the book will get you started on exploring the broader subject of weeds, and the issues they raise, further.
