Geology and Mineral Resources of Goa is concerned with the geotectonic evolution of the granite-greenstone terrain of Goa. The geodynamic processes of crustal evolution and metallogeny are explained via the plate tectonic theory. The tectonostratigraphy of the Dharwar craton is discussed next, as Goa forms a part of this craton. On this background, the gneiss supracrustal interrelationship, their peculiarities and the associated metallisation episodes form the most important aspects of the narrative. The morphotectonic development of the passive western margin and its bearing on the supergene processes is discussed in the following chapters. The concluding chapter provides an introductory account on soils from the State. The text is aimed at the novice and even lay reader with several colourful photographs, maps, diagrams and illustrations. Geology and Mineral Resources of Goa provides an in-depth read of the natural history of Goa from the inanimate Hadean to the animate Anthropocene as gleaned from the rock record.
