The TrackIR Pro are Guide's professional range of thermal monoculars. These advanced Pro models produce high resolution images and videos (resolution 640x480 12µm), which is especially helpful with identifying smaller animals or subjects at a great distance, and they have a thermal sensitivity of <50mK, which is beneficial in environments with low temperature differentials. It has a frame rate of 50Hz allowing you to observe fast moving animals, which is incredibly useful for bat work and the TrackIR Pro range meets the specifications outlined by the Bat Conservation Trust's Thermal Imaging Guidelines. They also come with a smooth digital zoom function allowing you to gradually increase the zoom between 1x and 8x and can achieve a maximum magnification of x16 (Pro 35 model). They feature a 1280x960 LCOS (liquid crystal on silicon) screen offering excellent contrast and response time.
The TrackIR Pro series feature a picture in picture mode which adds a small second screen on the image when zooming in on a subject, allowing you to observe the wider field of view at the same time. They also come equipped with a stadiametric rangefinder to determine the distance to focal subjects. It can take images and record videos (stored on an internal 16GB memory), and a built-in rechargeable battery provides a run time of up to 4.5 hours. The base of the unit has a ¼” tripod mount and a micro-USB port which is used for charging the battery. It also has a HDMI video out port and comes supplied with a Micro HDMI cable, allowing you to view footage on an external screen.
The device's own WiFi signal allows you to connect to a dedicated app on your smartphone or tablet. This app allows you to change the monoculars settings, view a live video feed, and take images and videos remotely. This is especially helpful during group viewing or when the device is mounted on a tripod. Please note that the WiFi streaming for Android devices only functions on true Android operating systems 10 and above.
The monocular is very simple to use, it only has four buttons each controlling one function: power, brightness, mode or zoom. It is also very rugged and has been drop tested to one metre, and it has an IP66 rating making it resistant to water spray.
