About this book

Language: Chinese with English and scientific nomenclature and name index

This book covers 6 orders, 19 families and 172 species, which includes all the insect species in China that are listed in the Appendices of CITES, the list of National key protected wild animals, and the list on the Terrestrial Wild animals under state protection which are Beneficial or of Important Economic or Scientific value, as well as other common insect species. This book includes the Chinese name, English name and scientific name of each species, and notes species' morphological and identification characteritics, behavior traits, geographic distribution, taxonomy and conservation class. Every species has one to four colour photos for easy identification. Although other academic books and photo albums relating to this topic exist, this manual is comparatively much simpler, more focused, more lively, and easier to use especially when monitoring the trade in insect species.
