This is a simple but effective tool for measuring the rate of water infiltration through soil and other substrates. It can be used to compare water infiltration through different soil types or consider how it changes across different slope conditions, different climatic conditions or the presence of vegetation. It is most suitable for students who are studying geography at GCSE to A level and beyond (but could be used to demonstrate important principles to younger groups of students as well). A data collection sheet and full instructions are provided.
