About this book

Language: Bilingual in English and Czech

This volume discusses the biology and ecology one hundred and one species of ladybugs living in Central Europe (one more than the first edition). Most species are illustrated with photographs of adult beetles from collections or from nature. Photographs of larvae and pupae are also given for a part of the species. Identification keys for adult beetles and larvae will make it possible to identify specimens on the basis of diagnostic features for tribes, genera and species, as well as by colour patterns on the wing covers and chest (for larvae on the upper anal region) or other conspicuous morphological features. The morphological characters are illustrated with black and white drawings linked to a pictorial appendix located between the Czech and English text. The text is supplemented by a revised list of tribes and genera of ladybugs around the world.
