Las Plantas del Sistema Ibérico Oriental y su Entorno is the first illustrated identification key to the flora of central and eastern Spain (the Iberian East and neighboring regions). The guide lists more than 2000 vascular plant species mentioned in the text, using dichotomous keys and contains nearly 1600 black-and-white illustrations. This guide includes plants from the territories of Albacete, Castellón, Cuenca, Guadalajara, Tarragona, Teruel, Valencia and Zaragoza. Common or vernacular names are used throughout, although the scientigic names are added in brackets.
Dr. Gonzalo Mateo Sanz is professor of botany at the University of Valencia and Valencia Botanical Gardens, editor of the journal Flora Montiberica, and author of books and hundreds of articles on the flora of the Iberian Peninsula.
