In the Mâcon area (Sâone-et-Loire, France), the clay limestones of the Bathonian contain a rich ammonite fauna dated from the Late Middle Bathonian to the Early Upper Bathonian, dominated by Perisphinctidae, Oppeliidae and Tulitidae.

Less abundant, the genus Cadomites Munier-Chalmas (Cadomitinae, Stephanoceratidae) is rather frequent in the Bullatimorphus Subzone (Bremeri Zone, top of the Middle Bathonian), mainly dominated by macroconch forms, closely similar to C. (C.) orbignyi de Grossouvre [M]. Near Mâcon, the genus Cadomites is uncommon in the older Bathonian beds (Morrisi Zone) or in the younger (Fortecostatum Subzone and Early Upper Bathonian). With fewer than about ten specimens, the genus Berbericeras Roman (Morphoceratidae) is represented by two species with still uncertain generic attribution, B.? compressum de Grossouvre in the Morrisi Zone, and B.? denseplicatum Lissajous in the Fortecostatum subzone and Early Upper Bathonian.

A review of the species of the subgenus Cadomites (Cadomites) [M] in the Middle Bathonian of the Sub-Mediterranean province is proposed, and its implications for the biostratigraphic scale are discussed.

Dans les environs de Mâcon (Sâone-et-Loire, France), les calcaires argileux du Bathonien ont livré une importante faune d’ammonites datée du sommet du Bathonien moyen et de la base du Bathonien supérieur, où prédominent les Perisphinctidae, les Oppeliidae et les Tulitidae.

Moins abondant, le genre Cadomites Munier-Chalmas (Cadomitinae, Stephanoceratidae) n’est cependant pas rare dans la Sous-zone à Bullatimorphus (Zone à Bremeri, sommet de Bathonien moyen), où il est surtout représenté par des formes rapprochées de C. (C.) orbignyi de Grossouvre [M]. Le genre Cadomites est peu fréquent dans les assises du Bathonien mâconnais d’âge plus ancien (Zone à Morrisi) ou plus récent (Sous-zone à Fortecostatum et base du Bathonien supérieur).

Avec moins d’une dizaine de spécimens, le genre Berbericeras Roman (Morphoceratidae) est représenté par deux espèces d’attribution générique encore incertaine, B. ? compressum de Grossouvre, dans la Zone à Morrisi, et B. ? denseplicatum Lissajous, dans la Sous-zone à Fortecostatum et à la base du Bathonien supérieur.

Une révision des espèces du sous-genre Cadomites (Cadomites) [M] du Bathonien moyen en province subméditerranéenne est proposée, et ses implications pour l’échelle biostratigraphique sont discutées.
