About this book

Celebrating the diversity and beauty of foliage, Josie Iselin has filled Leaves & Pods with lushly detailed portraits of flora she has collected during every season around the world. Iselin's signature process of arranging found natural objects on a high-quality flatbed scanner results in images that are stunning in their clarity and detail. Nature writer Mary Ellen Hannibal thoughtfully examines leaves and pods in all their variety, explaining how each nuance of their appearance serves a function and how they help sustain life on earth.

Both an art book and a botanical guide, Leaves & Pods reveals the splendor, complexity, and purpose of some of the most familiar objects in our natural world, combining aesthetic delight with scientific fact and philosophical wonder.
