The second part of a detailed taxonomic study of the butterfly genus Morpho. As initially foreseen, this second volume treats the subgenera Iphixibia, Cytheritis, Balachowskyna and Cypritis. It has been conceived in the same spirit as the first one. The author has attempted to clarify the often confused taxonomic situations, wishing to simplify matters but it may, perhaps, one day be shown to be overdone. The proposed solutions should be considered as hypotheses which ought to be tested, on the one hand within the context of in-depth research into the genital armature and on the other with the help of comparative statistics of adequate series coming from precise locations. At present, these solutions should allow satisfactory determination in most cases. However, ambiguities do remain, notably because of the lack of precise knowledge of the limits of distribution of numerous subspecies.
