This attractive Swift Nest Box has proven to be readily accepted by these birds and is highly effective when installed under the eaves of buildings. It can be easily attached to walls using screws and can also be placed in an overhead position if required.
The nest is made from Woodcrete and the backing board from exterior grade formaldehyde-free chipboard. This backing board can be painted with exterior wall paint to match the building but it is recommended that the bowl is left as supplied in order to improve thermal insultation and provide a better grip for the birds. The nest can be easily slid out for cleaning and inspection. As the chipboard is moisture resistant but not weatherproof, these boxes should always be positioned in a sheltered site, such as under overhanging eaves.
