About this book

For a time when we are most conscious of our energy security, a practical-lyrical , beautifully illustrated guide to its most ancient source – wood. Bestselling novelist Lars Mytting shares a Scandinavian passion for wood harvesting, stacking, storing and burning, combining cultural history and folklore with modern science. Norwegian Wood succeeds both in being entertaining and instructive, and in delivering a wealth of advice and technical know-how for the armchair reader and for those outdoors. Northern European countries have been at the forefront of the development of clean-burning stoves, for which the UK is a fast-growing market in both urban and rural areas. A phenomenal bestseller in Norway, where it has sold more than 250,000 copies, Norwegian Wood inspired a 12-hour television programme (including hours of live footage of a fire burning) which was watched by nearly a million Norwegians and reported on in the New York Times and the Daily Mail.
