This is the author's PhD thesis. A palnological study was carried out of seventeen soil/tephra sequences from a transect through the "Parque Nacional Natural de los Nevados", Central Cordillera, Colombia, an area with high active and semi-active volcanoes.The altitudes from which the different sections were derived range from 1700 to 4500 m altitude. The present study provides detailed paleoecological evidence of approximately the last 45,000 years.
