A detailed presentation of all plants known from the Pitcairn Islands until 1996. Lichens, Bryophyta, Algae and ferns are included in the book which contains five maps.
The compilation of this work was initiated by the fact that no comprehensive modem study on the flora of Pitcairn Islands seems to exist. Most of the rather few botanical accounts that have been published through the years are quite brief. The purpose of the present work is to provide a comprehensive botanical catalogue of all plant species reported from these isolated islands during the last 200 years, including their former and present local uses, their origin, habitats and general appearances.
