About this book

Language: German

The reprint of this German avifauna has split volume 2.1 into two new volumes, this volume 2.1.2. covers the Pandionidae to Falconidae.

This final volume of the series on the birds of Baden-Württemberg covers the charismatic birds of prey and falcons. Species profiles give detailed descriptions that cover distribution, occurrence during winter and breeding and migration season, frequency and population development as well as ecology, threats and protection of all 44 species. For some, such as the peregrine falcon or the red kite, the country bears a high national or international responsibility. Others such as the golden eagle, saker falcon or griffon vulture appeared earlier as breeding birds; exterminated today, they come alive from historical accounts.
