The Turacos are one of the most spectacular and unusual of all bird groups. There are twenty-three species and they are assigned to an order of their own (Musophagiformes). Found only in Africa, south of the Sahara Desert, they have long attracted the attention of ornithologists.
Turacos is the most lavishly produced of all Cooper and Forshaw works and for the first time presents the art of William T. Cooper as he intended. His paintings are reproduced to original size (750 mm x 570 mm) and printed to the highest possible standards.
From the introduction by Sir David Attenborough:
"William Cooper is a great lover of birds and his affection for them is immediately visible in the vivacity with which he invests his subjects. They are so alive they seem almost ready to fly from the page."
