The Pulsar Axion series is an innovative line of compact thermal imaging monoculars that make a great tool when observing cryptic species or when surveying in dark or foggy conditions. The Pulsar Axion Compact XG30 features a European Lynred 640×480, 12 µm thermal sensor with an NETD of <40mK, encased in a lightweight and robust magnesium alloy bodyshell. With a wide 14.6° field of view and a fast aperture Germanium 30mm/F1.2 objective lens for a clear thermal impression, the XG30 has a detection range of up to 1,300m in total darkness, including harsh conditions like fog and heavy rain.
This device features IPX7 waterproofing allowing it to operate in heavy rain, high humidity, and under 1m of water for up to 30 minutes – it can withstand even the most challenging environmental conditions. A major benefit of this device is its 7-hour battery life provided by a removable, rechargeable Pulsar APS3 battery which can be replaced in the field, allowing for reliable operation over long periods of observation.
A magnification of 2-16× ensures the XG30 provides a powerful visual experience, while the option to change the magnification in 2× increments or in a continuous motion allows the user to tailor their operating preferences.
The high contrast AMOLED display features enhanced colour rendering, providing a clear and smooth picture whilst on-the-move. Unlike an LCD screen, AMOLED does not require backlighting, so is perfect for working in dark conditions.
Video and images can be recorded onto the XG30 Pro's internal memory and downloaded via a USB-C cable or the built-in WiFi module. Using the Stream Vision 2 mobile app, users can transform their phone or tablet into a second screen to remotely control the scope's functions, install firmware updates and browse or share media. The app comes with a generous 16GB of free cloud storage and is available for Apple and Android devices.
