About this book

Volume 20 continues the "Reviews in Modern Astronomy" with highlight contributions which were presented at the 80th Annual Scientific Meeting of the Astronomische Gesellschaft in Wurzburg in 2007. 'Astronomy meets Astroparticle Physics' was the motto of this year's annual symposium of the Astronomische Gesellschaft, held jointly with the biennial workshop on astroparticle physics of the Committee of Astroparticle Physics in Germany. Under the common theme of 'Cosmic Matter', astronomers and astroparticle physicists had the opportunity to exchange their research results in this rapidly advancing field. Results were put into perspective by discussing the visionary roadmaps for astronomy and astroparticle physics on the European level, resulting from the activities of Astronet and Aspera. It includes the Karl-Schwarzschild-Lecture "..." by Rudolf Kippenhahn.
