This volume includes the revision, by Emilio Berio (1905-1993), of the Lepidoptera Noctuidae of the Collection of the Count Emilio Turati, acquired by the Museo Regionale di Scienze Naturali of Turin as an integrating part of the Collection of the Count Federico Hartig. The part concerning Noctuidae is completely re-studied species by species, the bibliography of which is analyzed and the taxonomy and systematic position of which is discussed, if necessary. This volume contains also the original description of several taxa new for science.

Biography

Emilio Berio (1905-1993), honorary curator of the Museo Civico di Storia Naturale “Giacomo Doria” of Genoa, lawyer by profession, but lepidopterologist by passion, was one of the greatest world specialists of Noctuid Lepidoptera. Along his life he published over 200 original contributions, among which two important volumes of the Fauna d’Italia on Noctuidae.
