About this book

Language: German

Volume 7 of the German Red List deals with plant groups of terrestrial, limnic and marine habitats (with the exception of the marine macroalgae, which were treated in Volume 2, together with marine organisms). This concludes the analysis for the plants in this series. In this volume, the ferns and flowering plants (Trachaeophyta) with 4,305 taxa and the mosses (Anthocerophyta, Marchantiophyta and Bryophyta) with 1,195 taxa are completely treated. The four algae groups are treated here too, the brown algae (Phaeophyceae) and red algae (Rhodophyta), the diatoms (Bacillariophyta), the oogamous green algae (Vaucheriaceae) and the desmids (Desmidiales), comprising 3,152 taxa and accounting for about 60% of the algae taxa established in Germany. The Red Lists provide information on population and conservation status, as well as the responsibility of Germany for the worldwide conservation of species. Thus they are an indispensable basis for the nature conservation practice. This comprehensive overview is supplemented by total species lists as well as additional information on the biology, diversity and importance of the treated plant groups.
