This book is a compilation of 46 species of snakes, most of which have been recorded in and around Pakke Tiger Reserve, which is located in the East Kameng district of Arunachal Pradesh in Northeast India. This is the first-ever book to list local names of snakes in Nyishi, Aka and Miji – three of the languages spoken in the region. A simple distribution map and a breathtaking photograph accompany each species description as a visual aid to identification. Localised observations made over a period of five years on the habitat and behaviour of most species have been included. This pictorial guide is intended for a broad audience and will aid in the accurate and quick identification of snakes in the region.
