An enlarged, updated and much better produced version of South American Land Birds, now covering the water birds as well, giving coverage of over 2,700 species out of a total of 2,950 that appear in South America. Each species account includes habitat and identification information, plus a range map, with 1,400 of the species photographed in colour. Unlike South American Land Birds, the photographs now accompany the species account, rather than being in a separate plates section.
