This book treats the grasshoppers of Greece. They form a very diverse and interesting insect group, from tiny crickets living in ant nests, ancient looking stone hoppers and colourful bright bush-crickets Poecilimon to the giant predatory bush-crickets of the genus Saga. Altogether 378 species of grasshoppers are known from Greece, 139 of which are endemic. This field guide contains identification keys with detailed colour photos of diagnostic characters. The keys allows identification down to species level for some groups, and to genus level for other goups. This is followed by an extensive section giving descriptions of the genera. At the end of the book is a section with oscillograms for most singing species, and distribution maps for all species.
