The second volume of the Catalogue contains the revision of the genus Cucullia Schrank, 1802 (sensu stricto). The book includes the genera Cucullia and Calocucullia Ronkay & Ronkay, 1987; these two genera comprise altogether 150 taxa of 126 species. The modern interpretation of the taxonomic content of Cucullia is based on the species-group system proposed by the authors in 1994, extending the frames of this monophylum, and resulting in the establishment of a number of new species-groups and two new synonymies (Dasysternum Staudinger, 1895 and Metlaouia Dumont, 1929).
The Cuculliinae I. volume contains 122 text pages with the latest taxonomic information, full synonymy and effective diagnoses of all known Palaearctic and Oriental taxa of the two genera, with the descriptions of 6 new species and 7 new subspecies. The volume is illustrated with 39 colour plates of high quality magnified photos displaying all taxa included and 18 colour plates showing the variation of each taxon in natural size. The genitalia of all species and subspecies are shown in 150 black and white plates.
