British Wildlife is the leading natural history magazine in the UK, providing essential reading for both enthusiast and professional naturalists and wildlife conservationists. Published eight times a year, British Wildlife bridges the gap between popular writing and scientific literature through a combination of long-form articles, regular columns and reports, book reviews and letters.
Conservation Land Management (CLM) is a quarterly magazine that is widely regarded as essential reading for all who are involved in land management for nature conservation, across the British Isles. CLM includes long-form articles, events listings, publication reviews, new product information and updates, reports of conferences and letters.
Chalcidid wasps (Hymenoptera, Chalcididae) form one of the most interesting and difficult hymenopteran parasitoid families to study taxonomically. They can be recognized by the swollen hind femur, the nearly as long as wide tegulum and the strongly punctate mesosoma. They show morphological resemblances among genera and species, and are not easy to separate. Though many species of Chalcididae look much alike, they differ widely in habits. Most are solitary and primary endoparasitoids of Lepidoptera and Diptera. Some species are known to attack Hymenoptera, Coleoptera or Neuroptera and few tropical species are ectoparasitoids. Rarely chalcidid wasps are gregarious or hyperparasitoids. Chalcidid wasps vary between 1.5 to 15 mm in body length (but are mostly 3-9 mm) and occur on all continents, though most species occur in tropical areas.
This monograph gives for the first time a review of this family of chalcidoid wasps for Vietnam and vastly updates the limited and scattered data on this group. The keys and the illustrated descriptions will be also useful for taxonomic workers in neighbouring countries. A total of 16 genera and 68 species of Chalcididae of Vietnam are taxonomically treated. Thirteen species new for science are described and the remaining 55 species are keyed, redescribed or provided with a diagnosis. In total 36 species and eleven genera are recorded for the first time from Vietnam.
