For each species the books give Chinese, scientific, and English names, morphological descriptions, distribution, total length of specimens, details on reproduction, taxonomic comments and IUCN red list status, and is illustrated with one or two color specimen photos. The books are the result of fish biodiversity investigations in the sea in southern Fujian province.
