Biography

Easkey Britton is a big-wave surfer and marine social scientist at NUIG (National University of Ireland Galway). Her work explores the relationship between people and the sea, using her passion for the ocean to create social change and connections across cultures. Aged 16, Easkey became the first Irish person to surf the ‘hell-wave’ Teahupoo in Tahiti, and has since become a Billabong XXL Global big-wave finalist and Ireland’s five-time surfing National Champion.

Maria Nilsson is a freelance illustrator based in London. Her illustrations are heavily influenced by the natural world, exploring various tactile qualities of colour, pattern and texture. She is the illustrator behind 50 Things to Do with a Penknife, 40 Knots and How to Tie Them, 50 Things to See in the Sky, 50 Things to Do in the Wild and Pittipat’s Saucer of Moon.
