This portable, introductory guide provides a comprehensive overview of the wide variety of snakes, lizards, crocodiles, turtles and tortoises found in Sri Lanka. More than 160 species are included and each description is supported by a clear colour photograph taken, wherever possible, in the reptile's natural habitat.
This new edition has been thoroughly updated to take into account changes in nomenclature and classification.
Indraneil Das studied at the Universities of Calcutta and Oxford, receiving a doctoral degree in zoology from the latter institution in 1991. He was a Fulbright Fellow at Harvard University, and a Research Fellow at Universiti Brunei Darussalam. At present, he is Associate Professor at Universiti Malaysia Sarawak, and Editor of the herpetological journal, Hamadryad. Indraneil Das is author of a number of other titles including Snakes and Other Reptiles of India (New Holland) books on the turtles of India, of Peninsular Malaysia and Borneo, a work on the biogeography of the reptiles of southern Asia, and one on ethnoherpetology.
