This book is a continuation of the works Árvores Brasileiras, Volume 1 and Volume 2, the first published initially in 1992 and the second in 1998, and both already updated on several occasions. It contains the same number of species from each of these two volumes, including the same graphic design and composition, however, it includes almost exclusively rare and little-known species, since the most common or easiest to find species have already been included in the first two volumes.

Este livro é uma continuação das obras Árvores Brasileiras, Volume 1 e Volume 2, a primeira publicada inicialmente em 1992 e a segunda em 1998, ambas já atualizadas em várias oportunidades. Contém o mesmo número de espécies de cada um destes dois volumes, possuindo inclusive o mesmo desenho gráfico e composição, contudo contempla quase que exclusivamente espécies raras e pouco conhecidas, uma vez que as mais comuns ou mais fáceis de serem encontradas já foram incluídas nos dois volumes iniciais.
