The Coastal Directories Project sets out to collect and collate summary information that will provide an overview of coastal and marine resources and human activities at national and regional levels. It also provides an index to more detailed references and other sources of information. The Project has been published as 17 Regional Directories, each one providing data on: geology and physical environment; terrestrial coastal habitats; marine and estuarine environments; important species; archaeology and human history; protected coastal sites; land use, infrastructure and coastal defence; human activities; and coastal management.
